Spending new year's in a beach town was awesome because it was so warm and so chill (not like the Chicago "I have a sleeveless dress and bare legs and it's 20 degrees below zero" chill, but rather the "I'm so relaxed because I have a glass of wine and someone is fanning me while feeding me grapes" chill). Anyway, we popped a bottle of champagne in our room and then headed to the downtown area. We didn't need reservations half a year early, or have to purchase tickets equivalent to the cost of three months rent, so we popped in and out of bars all night. We bought some silly string-all the street vendors were selling it- and sprayed one another at midnight while wishing everyone "sawa pee de mai ka". Then we hit the vendors for some of the best takeaway burgers we've had in thailand and carried them down to the beach. We ate our burgers while watching fireworks over the ocean. My friend Tash and I even managed to sneak into The Hilton for a look around. I missed my friends and family, but I definitely didn't miss the cold. Maybe nye on the beach is the way to go every year?
Happy New Year, sounds like a nice celebration!
