My SE Asia travels may be finished (for the moment) but that doesn't mean I'm not traveling at all- that'd be just plain crazy! These next posts recount the excitement from my travels to central america and the caribbean.
The day before my travel was scheduled to begin, I got an email reminding me to check in for my flight. I went to check in and noticed that I had two flights scheduled, one for the 3rd of July and another for the 4th. However, I had only been charged for one. Imagine my surprise. I called the airline and they informed me that the flight on the 3rd was cancelled so I had been bumped to the next available flight on the 4th. What? I had gotten no emails telling me that my flight had been cancelled or telling me I had been changed to a new flight. I had to spend over an hour on the phone- initially all they could do was refund my money, credit me for an upcoming spirit flight or bump me to a flight the next day. None of those options were ok. After much discussion the woman looked up flights from other airlines for me-- she assured me spirit would pay the difference and ended up booking me an american airlines flight that took off at 5:30am and landed me in SJO at 11:40am which still allowed me to board my 1pm shuttle bus with the girls. Yikes. What a way to start my trip!
